Would You River Cruise Without Knowing Where You Were Going? Uniworld’s Mystery Cruise

We just heard about Uniworld Boutique River Cruises’ first-ever Mystery Cruise, which concluded after setting sail on June 12. The 10-day sailing was the first of its kind for the brand – an all-new, over-the-top itinerary, with experiences that had never been included on Uniworld journeys before. The trip was full of surprises, the biggest being the itinerary reveal that happened when travelers were already on their way to the airport.

The idea of a Mystery Cruise was created and launched last year, as vaccines began rolling out and Uniworld enthusiasts communicated that they were willing to travel anywhere to get back out there and explore the world again. The 10-day cruise started at $6,999 per person including airfare and was hosted by Uniworld's President & CEO Ellen Bettridge. After going on sale last spring, the inaugural cruise sold out in less than 48 hours, prompting Uniworld to create an additional mystery itinerary (completely different from the first), that will set sail back-to-back on September 23 and October 2. 

INAUGURAL ITINERARY REVEAL:

Ahead of time, guests had no idea where they were traveling, aside from the fact that it would be in Europe. Before takeoff, only a packing list was provided to help prepare. The first Mystery Cruise took guests to three countries (Switzerland, France, Germany) along two rivers (Rhine, Moselle) aboard the River Queen ship.

Itinerary highlights included a visit to Jungfraujoch in Switzerland to the Eiger Glacier, 11,361 feet above sea level; a day in France's mystical Black Forest with a horse carriage ride and authentic lunch; a dinner at the medieval Castle Ehrenburg in Germany and much more. Onboard, there were fun reveals each day to unveil the next destination, along with special guests and celebrations such as a James Bond themed evening; roaring 20s party and interactive magic show with Gary Keaton.
